Leading up to the first anniversary of the attacks, a ceremony was planned at the Pentagon during which items would be placed in a time capsule and laid inside a corner stone of the building. One of the items to be included was a commemorative plaque listing the names of those who lost their lives at the Pentagon on 9/11. Affixed to the plaque is our “United in Memory” emblem. Design and production challenges included the plaque’s size, which had to be small enough to fit into the time capsule, yet able to accommodate 184 names listed under the sentiment “A Grateful Nation Remembers Those Lost.” Due to our experience with tight deadlines, we often create a back-up piece just in case there is an issue with the presentation piece. It’s always prudent to have a back-up when a deadline date is involved. The good news is that everything with this project went off without a hitch. The plaque image gives us all a small glimpse into one of the items inside the time capsule- a treasured piece of our country’s history.
