C. Forbes, Inc. was honored to produce a commemorative coin for the William Penn Chapter of the Association of the United States Army. The 2015 First Region Spring meeting was held on the grounds of Washington Crossing Historic Park, located approximately 25 miles from Philadelphia in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. The site was the staging area from which Washington crossed the Delaware on Christmas night in 1776.
The design of the coin, which was presented to all meeting attendees, was based on German American artist Emanuel Gottlieb Leutze’s famous rendering of Washington’s game-changing river crossing. In addition, AUSA’s First Region donated the commemorative coin dies to Washington Crossing Historic Park for use in the future.
Since 1950, the AUSA works to support all aspects of national security while advancing the interests of America’s Army and the men and women who serve. With 120 chapters worldwide, the AUSA is comprised entirely of volunteers supporting all Army ranks and components – including Active, National Guard, Army Reserve, government civilians and retirees, Wounded Warriors, Veterans, concerned citizens and family members.
These volunteer chapters provide recreational and educational opportunities, including professional development, at a variety of local and national events. More than $2 million has been contributed by AUSA chapters to awards, scholarships, and support of soldier and family programs.
C. Forbes, Inc. was also proud to produce the commemorative challenge coin for the 2014 meeting of the Association of the AUSA Fort Pitt Chapter, held in Pittsburgh. The coin commemorates Fort Pitt, completed by British colonists in western Pennsylvania in 1761 during the Seven Years’ War.
