The “Survivor Tree”, a Callery pear tree, was discovered in the
rubble of the World Trade Center following the terror attacks on September 11,
2001. The severely damaged tree was nursed back to health by the concerned
members of the New York City Parks and Recreation Department until 2010. Now
the tree stands healthy and tall at Ground Zero as a living reminder of our
nation’s strength in the face of tragedy. As George Bush stated in his address
to the nation on September 11, 2001, “these acts of murder were intended to
frighten our nation into chaos and retreat. But they have failed; our country
is strong.”
Our commemorative lapel pin encompasses the strength of
American resilience by depicting a silver cast of the “Survivor Tree.” American
made and manufactured, this custom pin is but a small reminder of
the greater ideal of our nation’s unwillingness to quit. The pin’s simplistic
design calmly encompasses the ideals of resilience and revival.
C. Forbes, Inc. is proud to produce this lapel pin, just one
of many from our commemorative lapel pin series, and in doing so, support the 9/11 Memorial Museum. It is the nature of C. Forbes Inc. to
commemorate and recognize important landmarks such as the “Survivor Tree.” To
us, the “Survivor Tree” is but a growing image of American strength and
greatness. The “Survivor Tree” is a symbolic image of freedom over oppression.
